    We are experiencing some very bazaar and frustrating circumstances with our ACAD2005 Network Deployment on Win 2k Pro.

    1.Windows is not registering the dwg extension - or if it does, it associates it to Voloview and;

    2.DDE is disabled by default. Even if an admin enable s and configures it. This is a serious issue as it disables the ability to open from Windows explorer, and prevents multiple drawings in one session, regardless of SDI settings.

    Users can explore through the AutoCAD OPEN command and open just fine, but due to some of our Document services that is not an option.

    We are going crazy here over this as it is plaguing everyone (about 120 users). Some initial research suggested account permissions. Our users are locked WAY down by IT. So we installed under admin as usual, but then enabled the user to have admin rights for one session hoping that would allow ACAD to write all the necessary files. Apparently not.

    Is anyone else experiencing these kinds of results??

    A user should at least be part of the Power Users group or the Administrators group on their 'local machine' when running AutoCAD. Any IT Administrator should know the difference between local access and network access.

    I'd also make sure your AutoCAD has the lastest service packs, as well as Windows 2000.
