Duplicate views for drawing creation

I have two separate assys, each are very large in size. I have made a
custom named view in the first, and want to duplicate the same view
orientation to the second so each appear a the same angle in the
drawing. The view is something like an isometric, but are not
orthagonal, I had to create a custom one to get the part to fit into a
    drawing sheet, and show detail.

I don't have any idea what the angle compound angle is, in order to try
to duplicate it on the second view.

Anyone know how to copy a named view from one assy to another?
    Any help is appreciated!

If your assembly is still in the same view rotation as your drawing view.
Go back to the assembly file, tap the spacebar, create a new view. This new
view will have orientation to whatever the current assembly view is. This
will allow you to go back to your drawing and insert new drawing views and
select your custom created view as the orientation.

I know this works in 2005 ( just tried ), but not sure about previous
versions, seem to recall that its a recent addition

I have created a named view in my assy for use in my drawing.
The problem is a second assembly file (completely separate from the
first) of which I want to create a named view with the same orientation
as the other (to be used in the drawing)

    Try this:

First, before opening anything, set your first assembly AND THE DRAWING for
it, to "read-only". This is just to make sure that you don't accidentally
    overwrite them.

Click File>Open and highlight the first drawing.
    Click references.
Double click the assembly in the references window list. This pulls up
    another "Open" dialog box.
Select the second assembly and click OK.
Click OK again to open it.

You will get a warning that the drawing is "read-only". Click OK. The
drawing should now contain the second assembly with all of the views
identical to the first drawing. All dimensions and reference geometry
(centerlines, center points, etc.) will be broken.

Now, you have 2 choices here. You can simply save this drawing as a new
filename and clean-up all of the broken references. Or, if there is already
a drawing created for the second assembly, you could copy and paste the iso
view of the redirected drawing into the existing drawing.

I use these methods all the time on similar parts such as pins. It works
well for me. It is very important to set the original drawing to read-only.
It is just too easy to accidentally click save and screw-up all of your
    references.

    Hope this helps.

There are api callouts for getting and setting view orientations. If
someone could adapt them then you could essentially cut and paste views from
one model to another. The relevant information, if anyone wants to give it
a shot, is under modelview.orientation3. I only do cut-and-paste api
    developement, beyond that.......

    That's exactly what I'm looking for...But I don't have any API
    experience.
