Dual Dimensions

We use AutoCad 14 to detail architectural window shop drawings. Most
of the Architects' drawings are in metric but our shop works in
imperial. Hence, our drawings are generated in metric, and the shop
supervisor manually converts all dimensions to inches. This is time
consuming and poses the potential for errors. I want to find a way to
    dual dimension the drawings.

One designer uses "auto-dimension" which I believe allows her to easily
insert the imperial dimension in brackets beside the metric. The other
designers insert dimensions as text so they can not easily
    auto-convert.

I'm not an Autocad user but need to find a way to get the imperial
dimensions on the drawings quickly and accurately. Any sugestions?

    Thanks,

    Ian

You could use my application "ArchTools" to create combined metric and
imperial (and any other) dimensions (http://www.archtools.de) completely
independend from the size of a drawing unit.

But without application and without scaling the whole drawing an easy and
straightforward way would be to redefine the dimension styles with another
DIMLFAC value (if now one drawing unit stands for 1 Meter, you now want to
    measure it with 39.37 inches).

And another solution would be to scale the whole drawing accordingly, so
that what's now 1 unit long scales to 39.37 units.

  3. You could create a dimension style that has alternate units built in to it.
Just provide the correct scaling factor into the alternate units and you
should have no problems. Anyone who has created a dimension style should be
    able to do this.
