No new school to the Plotting in 2002, nor Cad.
Question is "Optimization" for Plotting on a HP755CM in
    regard to the Driver Choices:

    "Optimized Driver by HP", or
    "HPGL/2 by Autodesk"

Operators seem to desire "control" over what they want,
and how they understand/desire to customize in 2002.
I need to get alot of these customizations cleaned up, and
standardize what is available over our server so we can
    "get with the program".

Most if not all were set up using one of the above Drivers,
and most work is simply black/white/gray with wights.

I'm back to doing alot of Presentations, using Color to fill areas.

I may use the HPGL/2 Autodesk Driver, with a custom .CTB
to plot, and the plot preview displays as desired, yet actual
plot to the 755CM black becomes color, and color becomes black.
This would be using "Graphics" in "Virtual 255" mode.

I.E. majority of the customized .CTB files to get color for a select
pen is "Use Object Color", and Pen # and Virtual Pen # are to
"Automatic" (this may be our problem).
Yet, using the "Optimized Driver by HP" in 24bit Color, works as
    desired.

We (I) would like to get our "HPGL/2 Autodesk" driver utilizing
the better custom paper size options, yet my color problem above
has been somewhat confuzing the issue.
Switching to 24bit just gets us mixed up even more.

This may be as simple as turning the custom .CTB files to
"Virtual" for the Pen #, and will work on one.

Yet wanted someone's comments on how they utilize each of the
drivers with the .CTB files to get presentation displays (Black and Color
fill, with Images (on occasion) preferably using the "HPGL/2 Autodesk"
    driver.

    Apreciated!

Appreciate info, yet that is REALLY our main problem, toooo many
PC3 files that really could be grouped into 1or2, yet utilize a driver that
    is "consistant" with desired output.

By "Windows" driver, I assume you mean the "HP Optimized - C3197A by HP"
that we use. We just HATE, and I mean HATE the options and method for
    paper size customization from HP.

The "Autodesk" driver does such a cleaner job, has what we REALLY utilize.

Plus, we may Nest the plot, one Black and then same as a Color Presentation
(by Color, I mean Black lines with Color fill), as 11x17's side by side on
    the roll.

We had a great system prior to ACAD2002, then we just seam to fight the
    "Driver"
options issue to get our desired output, with respect to the .CTB Virtual
    Pen options.
We get it done, yet the driver options with the PC3's get all mixed up, then
    add in
someones tweek'ed .CTB (and get into a PMP option), keeps spelling disaster
    if
    someone grabs the incorrect mix.

And just REALLY do not understand (as prev. stated), why does the Autodesk
driver "display" as correct, yet the plot returns mixed. Plotter is set to
    Software,
and HPGL/2. We get "what we see" set up with the HP Optimized in 24bit
    Color,
yet can we utilize the HDI (Autodesk's Driver) to utilize the sheet options
    cleaner.

Not really "up" on the comment that the Heidi (HDI) by Autodesk is a "stop
    gap
    measure" ??

Again, looking for something alittle more ++++.

    Again, appreciated.

  3. No that is an HDI driver -> By "Windows" driver, I assume you mean the "HP
    Optimized - C3197A by HP"
Use the Windows System Printer for best results with HP printers. Set up a
few good PC3 files and delete, or at least move them into hiding, the rest.

Hu, Never really into trying something "SIMPLE".

We had migrated from the Autodesk driver to the HP Optimized
with differed results, so never really considered the Windows System
as even a relative option. (Who thought a VW could be a Porche)

If anyone is really bored, care to explain why I "see" what I want with
the HDI driver options (and can get), yet the plots are as explained
previously (or not as I am seeing)? What is giving presence??

Is there a method/setup to get the Autodesk driver to relate the plot as
I am correctly seeing it in preview??

    again, appreciated.

    G.T.
