Why do my drawing views disappear? I hover the cursor over the view and can
see some parts but it is otherwise invisible.

I'm having a hell of a time with drawings. Can anyone suggest a book?
    something? a good therapist?

  2. What SP are you on? Try changing them to draft mode to see if that makes
    them reappear.

Sounds like a graphics card driver issue. (I see this all the time).
Have you checked your current video card drivers against the
recommended SW ones? You can sign onto the SW web site and log onto
the support area and get access.

Secondly, if you are using a card geared for video games, (such as a
GeForce) you can try selecting "Use Software OpenGL" in the performance
section in the system properties. (you must have no parts or drawings
open for this option to be available and not grayed out)

    It's a recommended card - Nvida.

  6. Yeah, what Wayne said. The only time it seems to happen to me is when I
click "Save," and I've been able to avoid the problem by clicking
"Rebuild" just before I hit Save.

    I have seen this if:-
1, A sheet metal part will not unfold.
2, If the part or assembly have not been fully rebuilt after an edit, (where
the drawing was made before this edit).
3, A part or assembly can not rebuild correctly, because of a constraint
    error.
4, Because you are running out of ram, after 3-4 hours SW use, with large
    assemblies.
5, Because someone nicked the last A3 sheet of paper! lol

It's a known issue, some disappearing issues have been fixed in SP4.0. I
still get them if I have a mirrored part and the original part in the
    same drawing.

Usual workaround click draft the back to high quality.

    Thanks to everyone that responded.
I'm happy to know I'm not going crazy and the view was actually
    disappearing.

it is faster, less headache to work in a cad you know then import into
solidworks and pretend you did it using swx

(just another one of my ideas....but occurring often enough when working to
    a deadline)
