How is one supposed to do this? I can get to the 'AutoCAD® 2004 Developer
Manuals' page via the Subscription website. There are four links, but the
links go to html pages, which then load the PDF. Because the links are to
HTML pages a right click, save link as doesn't work, and once you open the
PDF in the browser, I can't find a way to then save the PDF. I would really
like to just download the things and store them locally where I can get at
    them.

When I load a PDF file in IE6, Adobe has a toolbar which contains a icons.
Among those icons are a Print Icon and a Save Icon. When I click on the
save icon, I'm prompted for a path and filename.

Here's another option. I don't know what version of Adobe you have, but I
have Version 5.0. I started the Adobe Acrobat Reader OUTSIDE of the browser
with no PDF file loaded. When I went to Edit>Preferences, on the left hand
side there was a column from which I chose "Options". On the right were
several options. When I turn off "Display PDF in Browser" and click a PDF
link in my browser, it starts a full instance of the reader. By doing this,
I have all of the reader's menu bars.

If you bought the full version. The documents are stored as PDF's on the
    CD.
