    Spammers never quit, so download FixNews for Netscape 3 or 4, if that's
    what you use. The filtering is great, but isn't transparently usable.
    You need to view the Help files for information on "wildcards" and edit
    the "Killfile.txt" file manually. Add the following to killfile crap
    posted by the spammer who posts Subjects all in caps as above:

    AuthorX=@*becomerichs*

    where X is the next line of the killfiles authors in the text file. And
    be sure to put Jon Banquer and Cliffy in there:

    AuthorX=@*jon banquer*
    AuthorX=@*jon_banquer*
    AuthorX=@**

    BTW, the @ symbol means "regardless of case" and the * is a wildcard
    just as you would use it in a DOS batch file.

    Further BTW, in the Options tab of the FixNews popup dialog box be sure
    to UNcheck the Easy Scrolling option. It messes up right-click flyout
    menus in Netscape.

    TOP Guest

    Spork,

    Could you share what you know on low cost/no cost news servers?

    News SERVERS, Amigo? Or news readers? Don't know much about low/no
    cost SERVERS. My Usenet service comes via my ISP (Bellsloth) and of
    course I have to pay for service. Their (sorry a$$) Usenet news server
    comes with the package. I use Google for the archives -- and that's all
    I use it for. As far as news READERS are concerned, I like Netscape,
    but Mozilla has a free email/news client called Thunderbird. It's a lot
    like Netscape (no surprise, since Netscape was based on Mozilla).

    They do after they lose their accounts and their Sites,
    often several times, mostly, I think.
    It becomes a lose-lose thing.
    One of the keys is to get their accounts killed off
    rapidly.

    Hey TOP (Paul),

    I have Comcast here and they were using giganews which was OK, but they just
    went to their own news server, total crap so far (I'm sure it will get
    better)!!
    Anyway, someone here pointed me to news.excelonline.com and it is VERY
    responsive, almost immediate.

    FWIW,
    Muggs

    BTW, I'm glad you like the monicor. Do I get a royalty???

    If we could just get Google to allow filtering. Unfortunately, my only
    access to usenet at work is via Google :<
