doubleclick Properties editor disabled

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Mike Cunningham, Dec 18, 2003.

  1. I am having a problem where I double click on an entity, and the Properties
dialog box comes up, but says "No Selection". Even if I then try to click
the select objects button and select things, it still says "no selection".
Anyone know how to fix this? Just started happening, and even happens when
opening a fresh AutoCAD session with a ew drawing. I am using AutoCAD 2002.

    Thanks.

  2. Is PICKFIRST set to 1?

  3. Yes, it is. That was the only variable I could find that would seem to make
sense, but it is in fact set to 1.

    Any other ideas??

  4. If you have the Express Tools...
See if DCPROPS is on (needs to be off)

    Regular AutoCAD make sure that...
PICKFIRST should be set to 1
    DBLCLKEDIT set to on

    Was 2002 re-installed as well?
That error is common when a Windows Registry 'Cleaner' utility is used, which
tend to wipe out temp entries AutoCAD relies on.

  5. Also you should be asking (in the future please do so) in the AutoCAD 2002
discussion group, as the Drafting discussion group was intended for drafting
type issues, not technical support issues.

  6. I do have Express Tools, and DCPROPS is OFF. Also, PICKFIRST is set to 1,
and DBLCLKEDIT is set to ON.

IT tells me there was a registry cleaner utility run. Should I reinstall
2002 at this point? I also get the issue of sometimes instead of saying "no
selection", there is absolutely nothing in the dialog box, it is completely
blank. Slightly different behavior, but I'm assuming tied to the same
    thing.

I apologize for posting this in the "wrong" newsgroup...I figured the
problem was preventing me from drafting efficiently, (i.e. not being able to
quickly modify objects) so I opted for the "...drafting" newsgroup. I will
try to pick the appropriate newsgroup in the future.

  7. You might try to resolve this issue, by running the setup from the Autodesk CD
    again.
Select Reinstall, and then click Repair.

No apology needed, just letting you know where you can search for previously
posted questions/answers as well as using the Knowledge Base for Technical
Solutions. Good luck and hope the repair works.
