    Hello,
I must buy a plotter (at the moment I think an HP DesignJet 500); to print
with solidwork do I need postscript function?
It is expansive, at least 300-400 euros in addition to basic models, so if
it isn't necessary to print vectorial projects...

    Thank you :)

not going to comment on ps.

however, i would recommend the hp-gl/2 card. this card allows for small
margins (5mm). search hp web site for small margins.

duh, after re-reading your question, you do not need ps function to print
    with solidworks.

Uhm... I thougt hp-gl/2 card was only for memory expansion...

Another question: do you think that a print server can solve memory limits
of the printer? Some friends suggest me that if I don't want to expand the
16Mb to 32 or more i can use a simple and economic print server, that in
collaboration with computer's hd sends gradually data to the printer helping
to make bigger printing without errors due to memory limit, is it true?

    Thanks :)

not entirely, when they developed this neat little feature (small margins)
it required the hp-gl/2 card. i was more than a little peeved to find out
that i couldn't print my ansi drawing borders at 1:1 and not have the edges
    get clipped off.

not sure about print server. memory is actually cheap, it's the damn card
(hp-gl/2) that the extra memory goes on that's expensive. yet another scam.
anyhow, if the small margin thing is of interest & you want to add more
memory then the card may be worthwhile.
