    I`ve setup a new DJ500 at work....(My company never had a AutoCad/Plotter
    station
before.) The IT guys are not able to get it working on the network. They say
    they can`t
find the plotters network ID. I`am certainly not knowledgeable about
    network settings.
But can someone give me some suggestion for helping them get this working.?
Do they get the ID off the plotter config settings, (Control Panel) or from
    the netework itself?
It has a Jetdirect Card, and HPGL-2 Card installed, new network
    cables(Professionaly installed
and certified). (Novell system I believe).
Any help would be grealy appreciated
    Thanks to all....
    Ron.....

  3. Hi Ron,

That's the card ;-)... For setting up they should also be using the HP
WEBAdmin software. This is how HP Supports using it. The system should
still be under warrenty. If they have problems I would suggest calling in
    to HP for support

Here is a link that will help you locate a local support number.

    Take care and Happy plotting.

With a JetDirect card on a unsecured print server, Power off the
printer and re-power up this forces the card to rebroadcast the
address and the availability of the address. Search for the device by
MAC address if a TCP\IP seek fails this is common issue on Novell, not
a problem mind you just an inconvenience. In a Novell Netware
environment earlier than 4.0 you will associate a MAC with the IP
    address.
Now on the other hand if you have a secure network environment, you
may have to adjust your timeout value for the plotter at the network.
Some servers can be set to drop devices that show no activity to
better transport network activity and provide better security. This is
a task for a network administrator and may need to take a server off
    line for this event.

    Happy Plotting

I think you could drill down through the plotter's menus to have it give you
the current IP address of the device. I think that is what they need. You
may ask them to assign an IP for the plotter and then configure it as such.

Is it network only? if it has a parallel port you could share the from a
    known-location computer.

    Hope this helps,
