Dividing polylines

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Martin Bundgaard, Apr 7, 2004.

  1. Hi

I often have to place a number of holes in manholecovers for shipbuilding.
I have a polyline made from to halfcircles combined with straight lines (
    not an elipse ).
When I divide it in segments, one of the segment-endpoints ( holes ) is
placed at the startpoint of my polyline, and it is always an endpoint of one
    of the straight lines.
An equal number of holes, should place a hole in each outher quadrant, but
not always in the intersection between the halfcircles and straight lines.
I would like to be able to control the startingpoint of my polyline, in
order to place one hole at the 9 o'cl quadrant.
I have succeeded a couple of times, but can't seem to do it again.

Would be greatfull for a little help.

    Martin

Be sure your composite polyline is continuous and closed (PEDIT if
necessary); then just BREAK it at the nine o'clock position, which will
define a pair of new "endpoints" including the one where your first hole
    will be drawn.

  3. Thanks very much
I think I got right now.
Breaking the polyline at 9 o'cl quadrant, will part my polyline into two
parts. One from 9 o'cl to 6 o'cl on left side and the rest will be the
    second.
Joining them again - selecting the big ( right ) part first - join - then
the other, will place the starting point at the 9 o'cl position. Reverse
    order doesn't work.
I don't really understand, but it is working.
    Thanks again.
