Is there a simple way to divide a given line into thirds? Sometimes the
length isn't easily divisible by 3.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Type divide at the command line. Fallow the prompts.

  3. The command is "divide". It sets points at intervals that divides the line
or entity. I set the pdmode to 3 in order to see the points.

If you mean to actually break the line into thirds, here is a method.
Use the BREAK command, and use the CAL command to calculate where to break.
    See example:

    Command: BREAK
    Select object:
Enter second point (or F for first point): F
Enter first point: 'CALEnter second point: @

The PLT subcommand of CAL accepts three items (endpoint 1, endpoint 2,
and the distance along this length). It returns a point which BREAK
accepts. Then the "@" returns the same point to the BREAK command.

change your point style/size and use "divide"

    Dave,

Yes you can, use the divide DI command.

    Good Luck

: ) I just read this!!! ... draw a light construction line at any angle
downward from the end of your line (A) and make its length divisible by 3
(or 5 or whatever you need ... n). Mark the construction line into thirds
(or n) and then draw a line from the last mark upwards to the end of line
    A. Then connect line A to the other division marks, making those lines
parallel to the line you drew first. This will divide line A into n equal
    parts.

That's an awful lot of work when AutoCAD already provides the DIVIDE
    command.

Sounds like an olde trick from the drawing board days.

It is. BTW, did anyone notice that they are replying to a six month old
