Dimension Rounding?

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Not Necessarily Me, Apr 5, 2006.

  1. I have dimensioned a feature and it shows as 1.745. When I change the
Primary Unit Precision to 2 deciaml places the dimension shows as 1.74. I
would expect to see 1.75. But anyway I've searched all through the Options
and the help file and I can't find anyway to change the 'rounding' behavior.
    Am I missing something?

Show the dimension with four or five decimal places and you'll probably
see why (it's probably 1.7449 or something).

  3. That may be, but shouldn't it still round like this: 3 places = 1.745, 2
places 1.75 . But actually I was asking if Solidworks had any options to
change the way numbers are rounded. I seem to remember that you can change
this autocad, maybe solidworks doesn't give this option.

    thanks

  4. Thanks,

I didn't know that this behavior was the correct rounding procedure.

Yes Rounding 1.745 is 1.74 but if you round 1.7451 (emphasis on the '1')
then it is 1.75 so until you crest past the "5" in the number it is
rounded down. For that matter 1.74500000000001 is 1.75 but not until you
    have past 5

  6. 1.7445 will round to 1.745 with 3 dec places or 1.74 with only 2 dec places.

1.7450 will round to 1.75 with only 2 dec places.

It all depends on what the starting dimension is without rounding.
