We have recently switched from creating bookplans in Microstation 7.2
to AutoDesk 2006. All our older bookplans are in DGN format. I have
tried to batch convert the old DGN's with MStation 8 but the
lineweights and fonts all come out skewed. Is there another way to
batch convert either directly from MStation 7.2 direct to AutoCAD or
    through a third party converter?

This is a common problem, I have had this many times over. the only way
around that I have found for the fonts is to create a text style in
your AutoCad default template drawing that emulates the Microstation
fonts, this is not really goo dpractice, but it does get around the
fonts problem. The lineweights you will have to live with, they will be
in proportion to the MS ones, so you could use your filters and modify
them that way, assuming you are using lineweights and not pen table
    line thicknesses.
