I have not been able to get my HP Deskjet 1220C printer to print to
scale. I have a customer with a HP printer and he outputs the files
that I send him 1:1 and uses the plot to check the model for accuracy
of fit. I have updated the drivers and have attempted to plot on to a
sheet without a border. My plot is off in both the X and Y dimensions
but not in the same proportions. Are other users getting results with
    the HP 1220C?

    Thank you,

we can print to scale using our hp1220c no problem. You may not have
checked the "scale 100%" in the page set up of the print dialog box ?
or may be a driver problem.

  3. Andrew,

I use a 1220c and have had no problems with printing to scale. You
need to have your printer set to scale 100% in the print dialog box
under page set up. You also need to have your drawing shhet size and
your printing to sheet size match. If your drawing is on an 11x17
sheet then you print to an 11x17 sheet at 100% scale. Your drawing
will then print to the scale specified in your drawing sheet.

I've used the 1220c for about two years with no problems. In the print
dialog, under page set-up: make sure that scale is selected and the
parameter is correct. I suspect that 'scale to fit' is selected.

    Hope this helps.....

Thanks for all of the replies.
    Plot scale is set to 100%. I'm in sketcher and I draw a 4" x 6" block
with 1" squares and I print from sketcher. X dim's are real close but I'm
Probablly 1/32" short of 6" in the Y dimension. I think the paper might be
slipping on the rollers in my machine.

    Thanks

  6. Andrew,

That is your problem. The scale will be incorrect if you're printing
from a screen view of the sketch. You need to print from a drawing in
order to be able to control the scale.

If the plot dialog box that comes up when I select print from
sketcher, why does it give me the optioin of selecting "same as view"
or "100%" if it cannot send a 1:1 image to the printer? I appreciate
your advice but I question it. The sample that I plotted just before
I posted my question was via. this routine, plotting from sketcher,
and the result was extremely close in the X dimension, but off in the
Y (direction of paper feed) dimension. I have another workstation
hooked up to an epson 1520 printer, I'm going to run a test print and
see if the results are similar.

    Thank you
