My office uses a DesignJet 500 and AutoCad 2000i on Windows platform to
make architectural line drawings. Plotter has performed great until a month
ago it began making bands of double lines and text across the drawing. Not
the whole line is thick, just (about) inch wide bands in the direction the
printhead runs. Hp insists this is not a hardware problem and it only
happens in AutoCad. I have reloaded drivers, new firmware, replaced
printhead, and realigned printheads. Nothing helps. It happens in all
drawing from all clients. Please someone HELP!!!

I would try running the built in test plots first to verify that it is not a

Do you mean Set-Up Menu > Printer Information > Print ??
Have done so... prints nice, no problem
Also, have printed MS Word documents and Corel Draw drawings with no such
problems. The problem seems to only occur in AutoCad. Also, printed sample
drawings included in AutoCad, and some drawings sent to us from other
offices. These all have the same problem as drawing created in our office.
