Designjet 500 slow to spool

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Paul Caruthers, Oct 20, 2004.

  1. We've got a 500 w/ the HPGL card & the network card for a total of 32 mb of
ram. It takes FOREVER. Usually 2-3 minutes of spooling which also bogs
down the computer so I can't do anything in autocad (adt 2004). If used the
500 before in other offices and the HPGL card fixed the problem, or at least
    made it better.

Is it the Server that is slowing things down??? or is it 2004?? 05 is the
    same.....

Try setting the plots to spool in computer, especially since you only have
    32mb of printer memory.

  4. Are you using the driver for "DJ500+HPGL2 card" and trying to send vector
data? A long computer calculation time and long spooliong sounds like you
are calculating and sending raster data.

I have the same problem. I am running ABS 2004 and an HP 750c+ plotter. My spooling takes an age (in computer) and then eventually I start getting error messages that the drawing failed to print.( I posted a message yesterday about this under "I can't plot more than one sheet at a time") I am inclined to think it is a problem with 2004. I have had this plotter a while and never had the problem until I we upgraded to 2004. Everything is much slower than it used to be. I don't know if there is a setting somewhere that I can change?

  6. I think it it's this new file format also...I've used the 500 in other
offices, yes it's a low end plotter, but it's always work well. I am able
to plot mulitpule sheets, but it's slow and bogs down ADT to the point of
not being able to work in it for several minuts. The only time I've gotten
an erro msg was last week when I got a memory error try to plot a Cover
sheet that had a napkin sketch. (through a viewport).
