defun-q-list-set

    Sure, but again you're back to using setq to bind the symbol *error* to the
    function you've defined. Can't seem to eliminate the setq, so it seems to me
    an extra step to go through the defun.

    Anyway, thanks again for your thoughts and efforts, it's been an education.

  3. Don't know if you are still watching this thread Tom, but I'm back to
    the idea that it is more clear to use defun-q, defun-q-list-set & ref.
    to build a good initialization routine. Keeping the *error* part
    seperate.
