Decoding STEP Files

    Hi all,

    Does anyone know a reference I can read that would teach me how to interpret
    ascii step files? I'd like to write a program to convert a solid model into
    a sequence of (x,y,z) points from a solid model, but first I need to know
    how to decode the STEP files. (Or is there maybe another file format that
    may make more sense to do this with?)
