How do you crop a file saved from SW as a jpg? I'm putting together
    pictures for a website.

    TIA

Use one of the widely available shareware screen capture programmes, load
the jpeg and then trap what you want with the screen capture programme.

If you have Microsoft Photo Editor loaded, use it to open the jpg, select
the rectangle you want to keep, and choose "Image/Crop"

    If PhotoStudio, it's "Edit/Crop"

    If IrfanView, it's "Edit/Crop Selection"

Many if not most graphics programs will do this with one menu pick, but the
big ones take longer to load and make you jump through more hoops to save.

If all you have is Paint, then the easiest way is to select the rectangle,
    "Edit/Copy" then "File/New", Paste

The trick is, before you open the jpg you want to crop, first Open a New
document, and drag the bottom right corner to make the document smaller than
    any cropped image will be.
This becomes the default "New" document size, and when you paste the copied
image, it will enlarge the document just enough to match the image on the
    clipboard

  7. You can also paste it into Word and use the Picture toolbar crop.

  9. Not directly - you can cut & paste into XnView or some program, but then you
might just so it there to start with. Or, in Word, you can save as a single
page web page that looks pretty good.

Try a 30 day evaluation of Snagit from Techsmith.
One option is to region select directly from the screen.
The result is you don't have to crop the image.
It is the best $30.00 I ever spent on software - use it all the time.
I especially like the the rolling screen capture that allows me to
snag a list that is too big to fit on the screen.
