Creating searchable PDF from AutoCAD

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Jeroen Dekker, Nov 3, 2004.

  1. Our client uses a custom font named Romas in their AutoCAD drawings,
    which are always outlined as vector graphics when generating PDF using
    Acrobat.

    It seems that to create 'searchable' PDF, i.e. with text preserved as
    such, you need to a) use TrueType fonts in your AutoCAD drawings and
    b) set the Acrobat printer driver to keep TrueType fonts as text
    instead of graphics. Correct?

    Now, they have many drawings, so the question becomes: is there a way
    to change all (Romas) text strings in a drawing to a TrueType font in
    a set of DWG files? A batch solution?

    Thanks,

    Jeroen Dekker

    HiHo;
    A script file will do that.
