Does anyone know how to create holes in a 2-D sketch mode (as opposed
to 3-D) other than refrencing the holes to an external 2-D sketch.
After running the Hole wizard the sketch mode is defaulted to 3-D, can
this be changed? On conveting files from Autodesk Inventor and
recognizing features most holes are created in 2-d mode, i figure
there must be a way to do this in Solid Works itself.

    I am running Solid Works 2004 sp02.1

Select the sketch plane *before* starting the HW, and you'll get a 2D
    sketch.
