create middle-lines (AutoCAD / VectorWorks)

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Tobias Wendorff, Dec 7, 2006.

  1. Hi there,

    in University, we're using AutoCAD 2006 and VectorWorks 12.01 / 12.5.
I've drawn a map (including the street-boards left and right) and
I want to add a middle-line for the routing now.

Do I have to draw them manually again or do these unbelieveable
expensive applications have a function to do it automatically?

    Best regards,
    Tobias

    Try "parallel" of "offset"

  3. Okay, I'm pretty new at CAD and GIS. I hope, I can find this
    settings.

But which line does it make the road parallel to? You know:
sometimes the left border of a road is different to the right
    side :-(

Isn't there a function to find the middle of each line?

Most roads that I know about have fixed widths and parallel edges. Choose
one and offset half the value of the road width.
