    Hi,

what is the procedure for converting Autocad dwg. symbols to
Ustation cells. The cells to be used as symbols
in Ustation drwings , of course.

    TIA,

  2. for V8 or for V7?

In V8, you can actually place DWG blocks as shared cells without converting
them. Simply attach the DWG file as a cell library. If the DWG file contains
a number of blocks you can turn on the "Use Shared Cells" toggle and the
blocks will be listed in the dialog.

In V7, you can open a cell library and when you import a DWG file there is
an option to save blocks as cells so any blocks in the dwg file get written
to the attached cell library. But you need to be careful if you open several
files that have the same blocks because you will get multiple copies in the
Cell library (going from memory here though).

  3. In addition to Dennis's suggestions, in MicroStation V8 you can also use the
EXPORT CELLS SHARED key-in to export blocks (or shared cells) from a DWG
file to a new MicroStation cell library.

First create a new cell library.
Then use this keyin: EXPORT CELLS SHARED cell_library_name

For example: export cells shared d:\testing\mycells.cel

    Dennis,

If you're using V7 (J), and have converted many symbols over to
Ustation, you may want to look at a set of macros by Allan Seidel
    found on:
    http://www.arkitur.se/maf/snuttlisteng.htm

    According to the site they:
"Convert a folder full of DGN files into a cell library..."

It may speed things up for you a bit...
