configuration colors

Is there a SP of 2003 where configuration specific colors "WORKS"

I'm using SP5, and it doesn't work at all... In fact, there are allot of
very flakey things about this SP. Curve driven patterns don't allways
    rebuild for instance.

We'll be using 2003 for awhile because of the surface interpretation issues
with 2004, (my thanks to Paul S. and others for bringing this to light). Of
the dozen or so surfaced designs I've brought into 2004, half failed with a
Cntrl-Q rebuild. Since some of these current projects are in various stages
of tooling, it would be suicide to convert them.

So... do I have to live with the kludge that is 2003 SP5, or is there a SP
    that is less flakey.

    TIA

Finally, someone else complaining about SP5 of 2003 . . . and one of the
three Amigos at that. We're on the same wavelength, bro'. SP5 is
indeed flakey and it appears to me that SolidWorks Corp has abandoned
2003 at that flakey stage in order to release flakey service packs with
regressions for 2004. Mi amigo, I'm back at SP4 and I have no problems
    with configuration-specific colors.

    Mark,

this was working on SP5 earlier today. Admittedly that was specifying
colour from Configuration Properties, rather than a design table.

Were you trying this out on parts or assemblies?

I'll have a play with this tomorrow
