Add this to the bottom of your email next time you submit a bug.

These files (sldprt, sldasm, slddrw) are being submitted for the sole
purpose of correcting the problems with .....add your problem here....
in the next service pack . Any other use of these files is strictly
prohibited without prior written consent from ....your company name
here.... . This includes their use for debugging or testing code on
    any future versions of SW.

    Just a thought

Just don't submit any key proprietary product models.

Sorry, I don't believe much in the ability of people to keep things
confidential, except when all parties deal with each other openly one
on one, and make personal committments. There are no absolutes, but
one on one trust seems best.

Has there actually been a real problem with this?

  4. Paul,

What's the issue here? I kind of figure that if they see something that is
unusual that I have created then by all means, make sure that future
    versions handle it properly.

    Or was this a "tongue-in-cheek" comment? :)

Once upon a time one could delete everything from a model BUT
what the bug needed .... then "compress" the part database so
as to remove any now-unused (but still there) data and pointers
(some systems may just mark entities as unused to save time
    resequencing the database each time).

I just had a TIC. Most people that read the comment thought I was
    talking about confidentiality.

Let's see if I can reword it a bit:

These files (sldprt, sldasm, slddrw) are being submitted for the sole
purpose of correcting the problems with .....add your problem here....
in the next service pack . Any other use of these files is strictly
prohibited without prior written consent from ....your company name
here.... without a firm commitment from SW as to when the problem will
be corrected. This includes their use for debugging or testing code on
    any future versions of SW.

Would you take your car to the garage if they simply used it to make
better cars for all of us in the future with no promise of when they
would fix it? The fact is automakers don't get half the feedback from
repair facilities and they still manage to make better cars year after
    year.
