I am setting up a network installation point for Civil 2005. Everything
installs correctly. When I go into Land Desktop I load the Civil Menu
Palette and select a Civil Command. When that happens I get the dreaded
Error [1.5.-5] that says it can't find a license on the server. I have
checked and insured the following things

    -Installation went smoothly
-Serial numbers for install and on server match
-Correct server name and MAC address on license file and client LICPATH.LIC
-Workstation can resolve HOST name for License Server
-Workstation can recieve license for LDT 2005
-Service Pack 1 was added to installation point. This does not help with
    this problem

I'm getting a little frustrated here. I don't know what the next step should
be. ANy Help would be appreciated

    Thanks,

I've got two different network locations running LDT2005 with Civil Design
and Survey using the license manager and haven't had any problems, except
the serial numbers for CVD and SV appear really odd when I got to Help ->
About -> Civil Design and Survey. Instead of seeing the normal SNs they show
up as a really odd combination of numbers and letters.

Did you combine your license files for LDT and CVD? That's what I did, so
the LM is only loading one license file at each location.

    John,

We have combined all 2002 and 2005 into one license file. It just seemed
easier that way. The license server is in another office location but that
doesn't seem to be a problem since Land Desktop can pull the license from
    the same place.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Have you tried with just the 2005 licenses in one file? Mainly for
    testing...

    Mike,

I had the same problem. The solution that worked for me was to add an
Enviroment Variables. The steps are below.

    1. Right click on my computer and select properties.
    2. Pick on the advanced tab.
    3. Select the Enviroment Variables...
    4. In the User variables for ???? select New...
    5. Type in "ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE" for the variable name. Note: don't put in
    the quotes.
    6. Type in @ and the server name that has the license manager in the
Variable Value box. Example, mine is @ENG105.
    7. Hit OK and OK.

Now it Civil design should find the license. Hope this works.

    John,

Tried that to no avail. This is the only thing holding me back!
    Thanks,

  7. Good info. I have ONE machine here that's doing this exact same thing. It
pulls a LDT license just fine. Pulls Survey just fine, but wouldn't pull a
CD license. VERY strange. Thanks, Pat!

    Everyone,

Thanks for all the feedback. Pat your fix worked like a charm. Now I just
have to figure out how to set that up for all the users in 3 offices. Or
maybe take a chance and see if it works for other machines in that same
situation. But that's what I get paid to do. Thanks again. Its nice to know
I'm not alone in having this problem.
