In the mid 80's with version 2.1 thru 2.62 I utilized an add on product by
Chase Systems with a digitizer tablet. This product had a command that I
believe was called AutoPoint but the tablet menu used the term "relative".
    It was very beneficial.

I could select a command (e.g. line, circle, etc.) and select the relative
command (of which there was the basic one and 9 that were predefined for 0,
45, 90, 135, 180, etc.), select a point on the screen (I could use object
snaps) type in a distance, and that command would start at that given
distance from that point in the relative direction selected. The central
command allowed me to key in the angle and distance.

This may be an easy thing to code but I can't do that.
