Changing variables via script

All:

I want to be able to change variables within 2002 via running a script file.
When running a script file that would change variables, what variables would
not change "on the fly" and what variables would?

That is to say, is there a list saying that "x" variable has to be reloaded
via an exit and re-launch of ACAD?

Any ideas would help.
