changing a component when doing a linear pattern

I'm trying to create a linear pattern of a component but change
parameters in the component for each instance.

Specifically, I'm trying to lay out a 12 x 8 grid of a part. I want two
of the dimensions in each instance of the part to change based on where
the part is in the grid.

Can anybody tell me an easy way to do this?

I'm creating a two dimensional grid and I know what the dimension
values for the part at each grid already. So, I could embed these
values in part configurations.

I know how to create the different configurations - I just don't know
how to automatically lay them out.
