carriage on 1050c stops

    when loading a roll of paper the carriage stops on the left side of the
    printer
    WHY?

  2. We had a problem like this a couple of months ago, which had to be repaired
    by an HP technician.

  3. Ron, I'm afraid your plotter needs service.
    But before that:

    1. Check to see if there is anything blocking the way. (Move the pen
    carriage by hand pulling the carriage belt back and forth -be careful
    here-).
    Paper may be caught somewhere along the way
    2. Check for wear on the carriage belt. If belt is "mushi" or has lost some
    of the threads or it is "hairy", it needs replacing.
    3. Check for heavy friction along the carriage axis. This can be fixed using
    the HP Plotter's synthetic oil.
    4. Check to see if pen carriage is not touching the paper (it should be very
    close, but should not touch it) This can be ajusted, but you´ll need a
    special tool to do it.

    You may have to replace the carriage motor and/or the carriage belt.
