Can't print to HP1050c with LDT 2005

I installed Land Desktop the other day and I just tried to print for the
first time today. I can print to our HP LaserJet 5000 ok but I can't plot
to our HP1050c. I get the message from AutoCAD that everything is fine and
it goes through the print spool fine, but nothing comes off the plotter or
shows in the queue. I tried installing the new plotter drivers that came on
the LDT CD but it still doesn't work. Printing from LDT 2004 still works
fine. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Pete

I don't have an answer but a client has had a similar problem. LDT 2005.
Plot from paperspace, works fine. Plot a window in modelspace and the full
preview looks good, but nothing plots. This is also to a 1050c as well.
Installed the latest driver to no avail. Use the system printer verses a
pc3 file, no help. Hopefully someone might give us some ideas on what to
    try next.

Now that you mention it I was in Model Space. I didn't try plotting from a
layout though. I'm in the middle of a reinstall so I guess I will have to
try it again once it gets done and see if I can reproduce the problem.

Yep...same thing after my reinstall. I have confirmed that I can plot fine
to the HP1050c from paper space. But can not plot to it from model space.
All other printer seem to be working fine from both model space and paper
    space though.

This doesn't sound good. We are scheduled to get a new 1050 this month. Is AutoDesk working on this??

Pete, I too am unable to print to a HP1055cm plotter using latest drivers (4.65) from LDT2005 in model space. Paper space works fine. You are not alone.

    This is a big problem.
Autodesk are you sorting out a fix? and if so how long?

I also have a 1050c and am about to jump to 2005. It's a good thing I saw
    this post.

It's amazing that this post has spanned almost 2 weeks and not one Autodesk
    "employee" has responded.

Ahhh it's to good to know some things never change.

    Craig -

The discussion groups are a user to user (peer to peer) type of
support network. Though the developers do join in once in a while
it is not something that should be expected. You can find your
support options at the left of this page by clicking on Support.

I might imagine that some of them have, like I have, searched support at
both Autodesk and HP only to find zip, zero, nada on this problem - I am
having the same problem with Map 3D

Great copy and paste response, but I've been all over "Autodesk.com" and
    found nothing.

I've been using these discussion groups for years, I know the drill.

A client had this issue last week and an Autodesk tech told me to have them set the printer properties to "process on computer". The IT guys made the adjustment on the server and the problem went away.

It looks like this works if set to "in computer" - just the reason we get
    plotters with so much memory...<sarcasm=on>

    I hope Autodesk fixes this!

  14. Hi John,

Thanks for the workaround. Processing the document in the computer will
allow drawings to be printed from Model Space. The Map and LDT teams have
been made aware of the problem.

Ni Nate - 'glad to see you guys are on top of this. We've got over 40 users
here, and expect to have LDT 2005 rolled out in the next month, and as model
space plotting is done here a lot, it's critical it functions. We can use
"in computer" for now, but look forward to the fix...

    Thanks - John

I hate to the bearer of sarcasm but we sure are lucky that someone from the
Autodesk team came across this issue (originally posted 4/28/2004). I'm
sure the teams are working hard on it.

I mean I do not believe for a second that a member of the "team" didn't see
the original post and couldn't have at least acknowledged the issue. But
then again the HP 1050c probably isn't a very popular model plotter.

actually, I'm having trouble witha 1055cm - suspect it is the driver for, at
    least, the whole 1000 series

Why don't the brainiacs at AutoDesk know this:
Go to Control Panel. Double click on Printers/Faxes. Right click on your 1050C. Click on Properties. Printer Settings. Click on Printer Hardware Tab. Uncheck Hard Disk Box.
This worked for me. Hope it does for you too.
