Running Acad 2005 Electrical, On new XP Sp2 pc, Stand alone install.

Plotter is attached thru network on a Win 2k Server.

I'm using the standard 7580B driver.

When I press plot. It starts to spool and then a popup comes up that states "Browse for Plot File".

If I click save or cancel nothing happens. The plotter just looks at me.

I've gone thru the setup several times. Everything is the same as my old Acad 2000 setup. Which still works just fine.

I have tryed to install other HP drivers and several of the other drivers do the same thing.

I know that there is a "plot to file" check box on the Plot page and yes it is unchecked.

I also have a standard letter size printer which also works just fine.

Looking for advise on how to plot.

It sounds like you have the device configured as a local port, maybe even as
plot files only. If that is the case, it doesn't matter what you do on the
plot screen, because the plot has no final destination. Check the
    configuration of your device.

Just a guess, but had a similar problem when we switched from R2000 to ADT2K4, maybe this will help:

If you're keeping R2000 set up on the same machine that you'd like to run 2005Elec, try putting the 2005 driver on your local machine - not the server, leave the R2000 driver on the server. Then set up the plotter as a system printer and point the port to the Plotters Network IP address. Create an autocad plotter config using this plotter. I know that it seems silly, but that was the only way we could get both versions of cad to co-exist and plot without having to do server gymnastics which we avoid like the plague.

Ever since we've done this both versions plot fine to the same plotter.

Hope that helps or is at least a start.

What do you mean by putting the 2005 driver for a plotter on the local machine? I have the same problem as the original post, using the HPGL2 plotter driver from Windows 2000 server. There are no updates on websites or microsoft for the hpgl2 driver. Do you mean install the printer as a local printer, then under port, link to the ip address of the plotter's server. The plotter is attached via parallel port to a w2k server, it doesn't have its own nic.
