    Hi all,
I have this drawing file dwg 2000, I can see in preview but cant open it.
    Getting message as"

"x.dwg is currently in use or is read-only.
Would you like to open the file as read-only?"

    YES

"Unable to load becouse it contains incorrect or
    corrupted information"

    I tryed to use RECOVER

    "Unable to recover"

    Looking for any help, please.

    thanks all

  2. I'd start by making it not "read only". Save the file to your hard drive
and right click it. Click on "properties" and then uncheck the "read only"
check box. After doing that I'd retry recovering the drawing.

I assume this is an AutoCAD .DWG file?
....and that you are using AutoCAD to try and open/recover it?
    What version of AutoCAD?

If all else fails, download IntelliCAD and give it a try
Or see if you can find someone with Microstation that would be willing
    to try and open it.

    Hi Michael,

    Its funny...acad tells me "read-only"
    but in properties...its not read-only.

I did try to open with Microstation V8 but no luck.
    Not sure who got Intelicad?

Just one of this things...you need something quick,
you know you have it but still cant get it....!!!

    regards

Yes Roy, one of the first things.
    Message received
"file c:\x.dwg is not valid drawing."
But I can see it in the preview window???

The "preview window" is nothing more than a bitmap embedded in the
drawing file that is a snapshot of the screen at the moment it was last
    saved.

It is by no means any indication of the drawings health.

If IntelliCAD, MicroStation, and AutoCAD all fail to open the drawing,
then it's pretty safe to say that the drawing is corrupt beyond repair
    by normal means.

Time to go to your last backup file.

    Also look at:
    http://www.intelcad.com/pages/auditdwg/index.htm

    and

  9. There's one more thing I'd try before giving up:
Have someone with a newer version try to recover it, say 2002.
    It's worked for me before.

    Thank you all for help.
Looks like I have to go back to "drawing board"
    and redraw it.

    cheers
