Can I "view" the contents of a slide library when i don't know what is
in it? (found a few from a few years ago on our server)

Check out "AutoCAD Slide Library Manager" from 6-28-04 in the CF NG.
You can "view" the contents of a slide library and extract slides from the
    SLB.

vslide is for single slides, not a slide library

that "program" won't run.. all it does is flash the startup screen for
1/10th a second and then close.. (had to run it 40-50 times to read the
    image).. shareware cerca 1997..?..yowza..

Did you register the SLIDE.OCX file?
Just drag and drop it onto C:\Windows\Regsrv32.exe (or maybe it's in
    C:\Windows\System...??)

    Then it'll work.
I use it all the time. I'm running WinXP with ACAD 2005.

    Okay, you got me.

In this case the OCX file is needed to view the SLDs embedded within the
SLB, so... register it and you'll be good to go.

    Viewing Slides (Inside Libraries)

Although interest has dimenished over the past few years, users
still want to work with Slide (SLD) and Slide Library (SLB) files.

One process thats not well known is how to view a slide that is
contained within a slide library. Use this procedure:

    Command: FILEDIA
Enter new value for FILEDIA <1>: 0

    Command: VSLIDE
Enter name of slide file to view <Drawing1>: ACAD(ANSI31)

    Command: FILEDIA
Enter new value for FILEDIA <0>: 1

    Command: REDRAW

Note the syntax on the VSLIDE command. You specify the library
name, then the slide name in parenthesis.

perhaps you missed the reason for the post.. i don't know what is in
the library, so that command does not help me..

    ok..
    a) win2k pro does not have a "windows" folder
    b) I did a search (of the whole c drive) and that exe does not exist.

    Start->Explore......C:\Windows\system32\
You should find the 'Regsvr32.exe' there.
    Note regsvr,,not regsrv..

ok, now that i know the correct name (thank you).. found it in the
    winnt\system32 folder..

ran it.. registration succeeded.. but sldmgr.exe still won't run..
(would someone mind walking me through it's use?.. i'm guessing that
you need to do more than just double click on the exe).

Open a DOS window and run SLDMGR in there. I keep it in a c:\Utils folder,
which I include in the system path (set in Autoexec.bat) so I can just run
it from any location. Running SLDMGR with no parameters will cause it to
give you instructions on its use.
