Once again I must ask this question......Does AutoCad allow layer "position" locking... example: screen layers that can be locked to a "back Position" and not as you draw them.. it's fustrating to have plot company's determaning the output of the drawings...

Layers don't work that way in AutoCAD. However, you can use the DRAWORDER
command to force selecte objects to appear to be "above" or "below" others.
You could use the FILTER option to select all of the objects in a layer as
    DRAWORDER candidates.

Typically, AutoCAD displays (and plots) the most recently drawn objects "on
top" -- so you could also just COPY an entire layer's contents to 0,0 and
then ERASE P to force those objects to the "top."

Thanks Paul for your comment....There are ways of handling this problem when your working on the drawing, and draw order works fine as well as copy, paste and erase. The problem lies in sending drawings to plot company's across the country and forgetting to properly set screen to back. This is a common problem and can by simply fixed by AutoDesk

Dean, thank-you for your comment....Last item drawn on graphic programs is true but backgroud is set and stays as backgroud. The last thing I draw, which seems to be screen for something, I need to sent to back. Because we open other peoples drawings this doesnt's always mean it was done right. It would be nice to lock particular layers to a back position always even if it's xref'd.
