Calcomp TechJet 720c

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Emmanuel Garcia, May 16, 2004.

  1. I installed the NT 4.0 Windows System Raster Drivers and missing files
into a Win 2K Pro computer using the instructions I found in older
messages here. Unfortunately, the resulting plots are scaled by 2 in the
    y-axis. Any suggestions?

  2. Go into plotter set up routine at the plotter, not within Autocad. There is a variable which will over ride all incoming signals and double the drawing sizes.

I use this on occasion for very long plots. Then forget to reset the plotter when done.

If that doesn't work check the resolution settings both in the drivre and the plotter. Make sure they are the same. I worked for Calcomp and seem to recall there was some issue with jobs coming out either half or double scale with the raster driver. This was resolved by making sure the resolution settings in the driver were the same as the plotter. I think the colour/mono settings had to be the same too.

  4. Thank you for both responses.

Unfortunately, the distortion occurs in one axis only, making the output
look stretched. I'm looking for a switch or setting that allows different
values for x and y-axis scaling.

I will try to do a clean install on another win2k pro computer and see if
that helps. During installation, I found that if I had the Disk 1, Disk2,
etc. directories deep in long name directories, that it would not work. So I
had to place them near the root of the drive.

The stretch happens if you specify/send a monochrome plot to the plotter while it's loaded with a color cartrige

  6. Normand,

The plotter is loaded with a black ink cartridge. How did you get your
TJ720c to work with XP or Win2k?

Sorry for not responding quicker, but i was out of the office for a while.
I' also sorry that i gooffed in my earlier reply.

    It sould not read this

    but read this

If you send a print to your device driver (if configured for color) it will do 1 pass of the cartridge for each color + 1 for black,
this works if you have a color cartridge installed.
But if you have black cartridge installed and your device driver is still configured for color the plotter will still do 1 pass of
the cartridge for each color + 1 for black.
So the immage will be streched 3 to 4 times in X axis for a 24"x36" sheet.(depending on your orientation)
The solution is to open the plotter configuration (5636 TechJet Color 720c.pc3) , then on the Device an Documents tab select
GRAPHICS>VECTOR GRAPHICS and change the Resolution and Color... to Monochrome 256 shade of gray.

That's it hope it helps you out this time.....
I'm out of the office soon and we are heading out to start celabrating Canada Day.....so cheers

    Norman,

the strech is of a factor of 4 times, since it will plot each color
    individually.

Any news, on the Acad 2005 problem, I'm curious....
