    Hi all

I have another question regarding the newer version of cadence 6.1.x.
We want to upgrade our old cadence ic5141 to the newer version but I
have been told that the new version is quite slow. Even the industry
does not like it and wants to stick with the older version. Do you
generally need more powerful machines for the newer cadence? Is it
slow when your designing more complicated chips as in our lab we do
    fairly simple designs.

I apologize as this could be a highly debatable question and what I
have heard may be wrong. However I thought, this is the best place to
ask for information. I would appreciate any comments that you may
    have.

    Regards,

    Vaibhav

My experience so far with the tool is that it is faster.

    1) It loads up our custom skill code faster during startup
    2) Xstream is around 20x faster than pipo
    3) opening small layouts is faster, but similar in speed for large
    layouts
