machine, everytime i open my ld4 it disables my express tools in
autocad 2000i i then have to go back and run my cad.exe everytime this
happens. this is a solution but it's annoying when i forget to run my
    ..exe
i would really apreciate any help regrding this matter.
i also like to thank everyone who has responded to my previous
postings one way or another they been helpfull on my understanding and
    learning.

I don't quite understand, are you trying to run both at the same time? Of
course that will cause you no end of trouble. Or did you install both and
you're using them at separate times??? I'll assume the latter.

The express tools for 2004 and 2000i are different animals. They SHOULD have
been installed to separate directories under each separate installation. If
for some reason 2004 and 2000i are trying to use the same express tools,
you're up the creek with half a paddle.

Check to see where your express tools for each is installed. Then check each
AutoCAD to see where it's looking for express tools. In 2000i, go to Tools
menu, Options, Files tab, Support File Search Path and look for the express
tools entry. It should read something like: C:\Program Files\Land Desktop
R2\Express. Do the same in 2004. As long as each AutoCAD install is looking
for it's own version of express tools, you should have no problems.

    Does this help???

  3. thanks for your response jakub.
the express tools are running from two separate folders.
    this is what i mean..

Opening an AutoCAD 2000 format file.
    Substituting [simplex.shx] for [MSURVEY.SHX].

    Resolve Xref "2277R102lEGAL": Q:\022277\XREF\2277R102Legal.dwg
    "2277R102lEGAL" loaded.

    Resolve Xref "2277RP111Dyke": Q:\022277\XREF\2277RP111Dyke.dwg
    "2277RP111Dyke" loaded.
    Regenerating layout.
    Regenerating model.
