Boundary command makes 2d polylines

I am puzzled. Just fooling around I created a rectangle, an LWpolyline. I
then used the boundary command on that and it, of course, created a copy but
this time to a 2d Polyline.

Is it just me using 2005? Is there some setvar that controls that behavior?

  2. Right. BOUNDARY creates either 2D polylines or regions, depending
on what kind of object defines the boundary. If a boundary's defining
entities includes objects that cannot be represented by polylines
(such as splines or ellipses), then the resulting boundary is a region
    Otherwise, it's a 2D polyline.

Hmmm ... thanks for that enlightenment.
