Blocks

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by craigboddington, Jul 25, 2003.

  1. What are the *D100,*D101 etc blocks that appear every time I purge a drawing. These don't seam to appear within the block tables, and just wandered their significance is.

They are deleted dimensions, which are automatically purged when the drawing is closed and re-opened.

These are the blocks (anonymous) that hold the definition information
for an associative dimension. Don't worry, if you delete an associative
dimension, the next time you open the drawing any unreferenced anonymous
blocks will be automatically purged (except for R13 when they did not).

Other such blocks you might come across are *Xnnn which were used for
older style hatches, and *Unnn are user created anonymous blocks.

The great feature of these is that they automatically purge when no
linger needed. Of course if you delete a placement of such a block you
will see the unreferenced block definition in the PURGE dialog, but this
is only because it is on opening a drawing that these are automatically
purged. In this case you can purge it out manually, or let AutoCAD do
it the next time it opens the drawing.
