Blocks VS SHAPES

    I have a client that sent me a legend that contains blocks and shapes, Along with .shx files (compiled shapes) that contain all of their shapes in the legend. Is there an easier way to insert these individually into drawings other than typing shape, looking in the list of abbreviations to find the correct shape and then typing in it's name.???(There are too many in each SHX file to memorize or search for a particular shape)
    Is there something like design center for shapes in 2002???
    Is there a lisp or routine that can place each shape in one file along with it's name for our reference (a cataloger/index creator for shapes instead of blocks)???
