This is a message for the admin of this newsgroup. Is there a way to
start blocking users that do not post SolidWorks related information?
It just seems like there is a steady flow of what I like to call "SPAM"
that is coming in from the same couple users that have nothing to do
    with SolidWorks at all.

Such as your posts? NOT posting from Google with a hotmail
account would be a fine start, right?

    Cliff:

I'm surprised at your negative attitude toward Google groups. If it
weren't for the readers who have no blocking, you would have no
    audience whatsoever.

I'm just upstaging BD, if he's lurking.
I always have poor clueless jb <G>.
Otherwise my few posts here actually are rather ontopic,
    usually, FWIW.

This coming from a guy on AOL! Anyways, hotmail is a nice way to
filter all my junk email out of my work email. All my posts have been on
    topic.

And I believe stating that you have had more than a couple
non-solidworks related posts is a serious understatement.

Besides, I was not the one that named you in this thread.

  8. Dale,
The guy thinks this is a Google group.
BTW, this group is pretty much on topic as Usenet goes. What there is of OT
    posts is easily ignored.
    It is for adults anyway....

Let us know when you become one (adult) and we will stop ignoring you.

By the way how is puberty going?

It is on Google isn't it. Just because some people do not use Google
    to access it.

  10. Unless you have a mouse in your pocket junior there is no "us".
It's been a while but as I recall it went better than yours apparently is.
I see, English is your second language...

    Class dismissed.

    <sigh>
    Not really.

    It's Usenet.
Google is (mostly) an archive search engine.
It *archives* some of the newsgroups and then searches
    it's archives.

They have lately added better ability to see & respond to
posts though. It used to take up to 8 hours to
see a new post sometimes (using Google).
IIRC Google now has has their own internal private groups
too, that anyone can create at will, unlike Usenet.

    Any more off-topic questions?

  12. I'm wondering if your posts are one reason not to use Google to do
newsgroups... It seems your posts have a habit of ending up as responses to
the wrong postings!! Unless I'm reading it wrong...

But back to the original question, I'd guess that even if there was someone
to block irritating posters, the most annoying sources of posts seem to have
nothing else useful going on in their lives and would probably just change
email addresses to re-post, making their lives seem that much more
    meaningful.

    $.02...

Dale, yes I do work for a reseller.

I would just like to get back to a time were the content in this
    newsgroup was actually SolidWorks related!!!!

Oh and "John R. Carroll" (nice official title), like there is so many
John Carrolls here. I appreciated your childish response, it helps me
to understand who I am writing to.
I must appologize for the English, me just wasnnt sur u kould acttualy
    reed proppper gramar.

Oh and maybe you should stick with the machining newsgroup, since you
have had so many useful SolidWorks posts here.

That is all I have to say. Now back to work.

I kill file (with exactly two exceptions) everything posted from
google.groups, as it is basically a gigantic honkin' sewage pipe
connected to the Usenet. Makes reading it a much better experience
IMO. Suggest you do the same.
Would you like some cheese to go with that whine?

Since he is a great "example" (cough) of "model behavior" (cough), has
anybody thought about letting his employer know about his antics?

That's utter BS. The sort jb thinks of and revels in if you
don't buy his clueless BS IIRC (or so I've heard).
Don't even consider such rubbish, please.
If you got bad advice (or think that you did), carp on it in
    public here. Then everyone learns.

    You're welcome.
    Get over yourself, fuckwit.

Attempting to meddle with a persons ability to earn a living (for all
you know the guy has a family to feed and a hefty mortgage payment) by
contacting his employer over something said on a stinkin' Usenet
    newsgroup would be utterly contemptible.

Matt Lombard knows what I'm talking about, he did exactly that to me
a number years ago. Fortunately my employer already knew he's a self
absorbed dimwit and got a few laughs out of it instead.

His next victim may not be so lucky though.
