    R2005:

I am inserting a block that consists of 2d geometry and some text that is on various layers.

I want to freeze the layer that some of the text is on so it won't plot. That works fine, but when I zoom extents after the layer freeze, the extents of the block doesn't seem to change.
I other words, with the layer froze, the block looks smaller but will not zoom out further.
Is there a trick to this?

    TIA

Hi Bill, Could you make your text a attribute and change its visibility
I believe that would change the extents.

  3. You could set that layer to non-plotting status, instead of freezing it. It
might also work to turn it off instead. I think AutoCAD basically "doesn't
even think about" frozen layers, but does layers that are merely off.

    Thanks all,

I think I'll have to change the block.

    No biggie.
