I understand that there is a bug with 2005 which causes model space plots to
be empty plots on DesignJet 1050 plotters. I can fix this by choosing in
computer but when our entire office needs to be plotting, sometimes large
basemaps with a lot of linework, and they all need to use "In Computer" it
brings our print server to it's knees often increasing plotting times by
    hours!!

When will Autodesk or HP (which ever one needs to create a fix) release a
fix for this? I can't find anything in the knowledge base.

Autodesk has a fix - just not sure how long it will take to get around to
all the various "flavors" of AutoCAD (Map 3D 2005, the one I use, has been
taken care of with a service pack - no word yet on one for "vanilla"
    AutoCAD).

Where do I get the service pack for Map 3D 2005?

Autodesk USA site - Support - select Map 3D in the product pull down -
select Data and Downloads - "thar she blows, Captain"
