Posted this question in the main forum but was advised to post it here:

Is it possible to bind only the visible parts of an Xref? i.e only what is seen through the viewport(s).

We have large base drawings which are Xref'd into paper sheets. Often only small parts of those base drawings are actually used. When we bind these base drawings we'd like to only keep in Model Space the relevant parts, which are visible though the viewports. We've used Xclip previously but the remainder of the base drawing is still there and Xclip is easily turned off. We'd also like to do this to reduce the file size for transmital and also for control of issued drawing content.

Is there a lisp routine that can do this?

What I do is this: Bind the drawings, explode them, copyclip with base
point at 0,0,0, turn on all layers, erase all layers, paste copyclipped
items to 0,0,0 and then purge all.

This process could be put into a simple lisp routine, but for some
reason 2k5 crashes a lot while purging for me so I have kept this
    process manual.
