Hi folks as the Beta program looms and I am thinking about where I will
install this it occurs to me to ask if anyone has had problems in the past
with Betas messing up their PC. ?? and also if there were any issues with
uninstalling at the end. ?? registry troubles ?? any advice appreciated.
    thanks

    Neil,

I would certainly be interested in an answer to this myself. It didn't seem
like the WI installer would support installing two different versions of SW
on the same machine very well. Installing SP's to two different WI versions
    is another potential nightmare.

    Regards

the sort of issues I am thinking about for example are Bluebeam files and
add-ins dropdown list. I see Toolbox and other common files are mentioned on
    the beta website.

This is a topic that has almost been beaten to death but it is always
    nice to help out.

The easiest thing to do is have a second hard drive (seperate from the
production version of SolidWorks you use) and install "A NEW
INSTALLATION" on that hard drive. Put the common files, Toolbox,
    edrawings, viewer, etc...on that hardrive.

I have never had a problem with a Beta when using this method.

The safest way to do this is either use a seperate machine or use a
dual booty. Installing beta software on a production box is dicey.

well I am not sure about this but it seems to me that this being the second
year Bluebeam has been around that 2005 will over write 2004 because it is
spread around my pc including some on c:\ so even if I had another drive it
wouldn't matter? as it is I have a dual install of 2003/2004.
perhaps I should contact SW and get an official view on these matters.

  7. Neil,

The beta download will likely come with some instructions on installation.
