Best way to make parametrics?

  1. Rumor has it that the next release of AutoCAD will
allow you to do what you've described, without any
    programming.

I would like to find a way to make a rectangular shaped detail with screw
    holes and threaded
holes parametrically. I would like to be able to edit it i.e. change the
    size from 4" x 6" to
3" x 6" etc. and then the drawing would update this object to the new size
    as well as move
the screw holes with the edges changeing. I would like to do this in a 2d
    format. Is this similar
to how inventor works in 3d? I think I can do it possibly with the creation
of an anonymous block with attributes that contain such things as x length y
length screw hole size and distance
off corners etc. Is this the best way? Any guidance would be greatly
    appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

Block Extender has been pulled because, as Tony eluded, dynamic blocks will
    (possibly) ship with 06.

I hope that means Chad sold his Block Extender idea to AutoDesk. I don't
know how much money he's made off his other ventures but ObjectDCL is pure
    genius.

  5. I agree with you... he is a genius...

Appears they don't... looks like they come up with something similar...

Dynamic Blocks to be in AutoCAD 2006
Information has just been released on AutoCAD 2006 and it includes "Dynamic
Blocks". The Dynamic Blocks have been setup to work almost just like
BlockExtender and because of this, we have decided to withdraw the product
    from the market.

Sorry for any inconvience this may have caused you.
