    Newbie question. I am trying to input bearings & distances (for a boundary)
    in Autocad 2004, but the origin goes to the end of the last line in entered.
    I know there is a setting for this, I just dont know which one. Any help
    would be appreciated.

    Did you change your units (Angle) to Surveyors?

    It always has been for drawing a line, it will start from the last point input.

    You do know how to input in format like this:
    Line, pick a point and type in (for example)
    @20<10d20'30" right?

    Just as an FYI. You don't need to have your unit set to Surveyor's to enter
    a bearing and distance. Just enter @125.86<N18d26'43"E. You WILL need the
    angular units set to Surveyor's to list the line and see the angle as a
    bearing.

    That is not necessary. You can always enter polar coordinates no matter what the setting of AUNITS.

    Once you draw your metes & bounds how can you dimension these lines with surveyor's units? I'm a newbie using ADT 3.3 . . . thanks, Ole
