Batch X-ref Drawing File zipping tool !

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by pradeep_hebbar, Aug 26, 2004.

  1. Hi all,

Our firm is of a typical outsourcing type, wherein we send the completed drawings at the end of day. These drawings are containing X-refs. Hence we WinZip the files along with path, so that while extracting, they are placed to correct paths in the counterpart' s machine. We are spending a lot of time to find the x-refs, and zip them along with Final drawings.

Is there any easy tool in AutoCAD or 3rd party, to furnish the above task?

If the tool adds an extra menu item "Zip all xrefs" in Right click menu on Windows Explorer, it is helpful. i.e. When we right click on a batch of files in Windows Explorer, we should be able to easily zip them. The tool should also see that, the xrefs once zipped are not duplicated.

    Regards,

  2. Use Express Tools, comes with AutoCAD. Oh...well it depends on what version
    of AutoCAD you have.

  3. That's what the eTransmit command is for inside AutoCAD. If you want an
external tool, I'm sure there are enough folks here who'd write it for you
    for a fee.

    Use this Express Tool
    AutoCAD 2000i/2002 = PACK
    AutoCAD 2004/2005 = ETRANSMIT

  5. Hi all,

Thanks! I understood about eTransmit in 2004. But it is not of much use, when we have to zip all the files in a single zip file.

Use the option to put them in a folder. This prevents duplicate resources
(fonts, etc). Then zip the folder.
